WELCOME TO THE “WE’RE WATCHING” CAMPAIGN"
.....for Election Fraud
for Voter Fraud
Government Accountability Board
Federal and State Legislation
ACORN
Why launch this campaign? There are election/voter problems in our state and potentially in your community. Just look at Minnesota, Wisconsin is not immune to these problems. What can we do so that each legal vote in Wisconsin counts?
As Jane Carpenter said in a January letter to the club “Like the old-time Suffragettes who united to see the right to vote, the women of today can rally together to protect that right.” YES, that means you and me and all the other great women in the WISCONSIN FEDERATION! The best part of this campaign is there is something for everyone to do.
Poll Workers:
· Trained by County or Municipal Clerk
· Paid position registering voters, handing out ballots, explaining how to mark the ballots or use equipment, etc.
· Must submit name to your county party by November 1st in an odd-numbered year
· County clerk needs to staff polls equally with Republican and Democrat poll workers so you must go through your county party
· For more information on the internet google : GAB Wisconsin , in the left column choose FAQS, under Categories scroll down to Election Inspectors/Poll Workers
Election Observers:
· Formerly known as a poll watcher
· Trained by the Republican Party
· Women’s club or county party will determine “at risk” polling locations for individuals to observe and document questionable practices
· For more information google: GAB Wisconsin, in left hand column go to the search box and enter key word “election observer,” click on the third item in listed posted on 3/5/09
Special Registration Deputy (SRD):
· Individual will be able to register voters anywhere in the state (think the counterpoint to ACORN)
· Trained by the Government Accountability Board (GAB), trainers will come to your community if you have 10 people. GAB’s telephone number is 608-267-7887; ask for the SRD Training Dept.
· SRDs can register people under the banner of the Republican Party at fairs, farmer’s markets, picnics, etc
· GAB trainers are promoting SRDs going into local high schools and registering 17 and 18 yr. olds which is something your group may want to do
· For more information on the internet google: GAB Wisconsin, in the left column go to the search box, key word is “SRD,” click on the first topic posted on 4/23/09 for a full explanation of what an SRD can do.
Legislative Watch:
· Designating someone to monitor state and federal legislation involving elections on the internet, in the news, radio, TV, etc.
· Alerting members to important issues that require phone calls to your legislators
· Working with and encouraging your elected officials to go forward with election reform
· Attending GAB meeting in Madison, citizens have the right to speak at certain meetings.
We can help you develop a strategic plan for implementing the “We’re Watching” Campaign in your area. Use us as resources to find speakers, set up training classes, or for just good old encouragement. This campaign is about educating, training, and directly involving our members and the public in Wisconsin elections and the elections process. It is through this personal involvement that citizens become aware of what works and what does not work to protect our voting rights. When enough voters become "concerned" about voting problems we will see some changes but meanwhile...... "We're Watching."
