Spectacularly-Poor-Climate-Science-at-NASA What is science? The observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena -- basically, science is a series of hypotheses. Extorting money from the populace (via taxes, fees, regulations) to support a hypothesis as if it were a universal truth (and as if the Constitution didn't limit such things) is immoral.
Scientists Behaving Badly
A corrupt cabal of global warming alarmists are exposed by a massive document leak. This comprehensive article summarizes the climate hoax, e.g., "...in the last IPCC report on the science of climate change in 2007, the terms "uncertain" or "uncertainty" appear over 1,300 times in 900 pages, and the report describes our level of scientific understanding of key aspects of climate as "low" or "very low." The IPCC chapter on the climate models that are the principal tool predicting our future doom refers to "significant uncertainties" in all the models, and admits that "models still show significant errors." There have been rumors for years about political pressure being brought to bear on the process to deliver scarier numbers, because the effects of a 2-3 degree increase in temperatures just weren't going to be enough to justify the kind of emission reductions the greens want. And one of the largest uncertainties in the whole climate story is whether we can determine if the warming of the last 150 years (about 0.8 degrees Celsius) is outside of the long-term historical range..." As if Copenhagen weren't enough, WI has to Cope at home!"Late last week Democrats in the Wisconsin Legislature released a draft of their bill [Global Warming Task Force Legislation], developed in secret, based on the Governor’s Global Warming Task Force." The Task Force members met Dec. 15 to endorse the proposal. While not yet officially introduced, State Representative Jim Ott gives us some specifics: "As a meteorologist, I oppose any attempts to alter the Earth’s climate with experiments that will be ineffectual at best and dangerous at worst." Michaels | The Dog Ate Global Warming"...the data needed to verify the gloom-and-doom warming forecasts have disappeared...Now begins the fun. Warwick Hughes, an Australian scientist, wondered where that “+/–” came from, so he politely wrote Phil Jones in early 2005, asking for the original data. Jones’s response to a fellow scientist attempting to replicate his work was, “We have 25 years or so invested in the work. Why should I make the data available to you, when your aim is to try and find something wrong with it?”
Reread that statement, for it is breathtaking in its anti-scientific thrust. In fact, the entire purpose of replication is to “try and find something wrong.” The ultimate objective of science is to do things so well that, indeed, nothing is wrong..." Thomas Sowell | "Global Warming Hot Air""If you heard both arguments, you might not be so willing to go along with those who are prepared to ruin the economy, sacrificing jobs and the national standard of living on the altar to the latest in an unending series of crusades, conducted by politicians and other people seeking to tell everyone else how to live."
